Ombre Hair

Transitioning your summer ombre hair into autumn

Get your ombre locks autumn-ready.

Whether worn with blue, blonde, purple or brown hues, the ombre hair trend reigned supreme for sunshine season. And although summer’s coming to an end (sob!), we bet you’re not quite ready to part ways with your beautiful ombre hair just yet. Good news: you can totally rock your ombre hair for another season and we’re here to help you make the transition!

So if you’re worried about how you should to rock the look to the office, need tips on how to prepare your colour-treated hair for the colder months, or which new shades to try for autumn, here’s our guide to transitioning your summer ombre hair into fall.

1. Prep your tresses for the new season

If you’ve been skipping your hair appointments all summer long (naughty!), it’s time to have your stylist pencil you into their appointment book. After a summer filled with poolside fun and playing around with numerous hair trends, your colour-treated strands are probably not in the best state.

Autumn brings colder temperatures which can also contribute to the dry feeling of your hair. Get the works! Ask for a trim and a treatment to prep your locks for the new season! Or… if you’re more of a DIY girl, we suggest trying out the TRESemmé Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment (£5.50*) to help give your tresses some much needed TLC.

2. Add a new trendy colour for fall

Just when we thought the ombre hair trend would die down, yet another hot and new colour appears on the horizon. Right now, rose gold is having a major moment.

To get the look without adding more bleach to your hair, opt for a semi-permanent hair colour, and use a rinse with pinkish tones. When you’re tired of the look, after a few shampoos it’ll all be gone!

3. Keep your colour vibrant with the right wash and care system

How does one keep her ombre hair fresh for yet another season? Use a hair care system that has been specifically designed for coloured hair, of course! One of our favourites is the Dove Colour Care Shampoo (400ml, £3.69*) and Conditioner (350ml, £3.69*), whose special Vibrant Colour Lock technology can help keep your colour vibrant for up to eight weeks! Its gentle formula also means it’s suitable for daily use, while making your hair feel silky smooth and more manageable.

4. Opt for work-appropriate styles

Getting away from the office and having the freedom to do as you please – like dyeing your hair blue for the summer or trying out a sassy rainbow look – may have been at the top of your summer bucket list, but now it’s time to get back to the drawing board.

If you work in a corporate environment, some of the hairstyles you carelessly wore all summer long may not be appropriate, but there are definitely ways to tone down your look without having to wave goodbye to your ombre hair completely. In fact, this is the perfect opportunity for you to try out a whole host of new, 9-5-appropriate hairstyles, like one of these amazingly easy work ‘dos that’ll no doubt work wonders with your beautiful ombre locks.
