September has arrived. And for most of us, that means back to school, or at least a new season hair revamp for work. But the truth is, you don’t always have to head to your local salon for a seasonal hair-overhaul. All you need to do is accessorise your mane. Yes, you heard us correctly: hair accessories are officially the next big thing for fall.

Ahead, we’ve taken the liberty to pull together our favourite, on-trend hair accessories from Instagram to help inspire and dress-up your new term hairstyle. Just click through our gallery above, or scroll down to see what made the grade!

Bobby pins

Even since we saw Kristen Stewart rocking bobby pins at the Equals premiere back in July, we’ve started seeing these hair basics in a completely new light.

And we’re not gonna lie: we love the idea of upgrading this essential hair accessory to new heights, just by the way they’re arranged and changing up their colours. And it doesn’t even have to be complicated to be pretty! Credit: @studiosavoneko

Alice band

No back-to-school hair accessories list would be complete without the classic Alice band. But truth be told, our headband envy has officially reached dizzying new heights after the Chanel autumn/winter 2016 haute couture show.

No matter your hair length, simple headbands are a great way to accessorise both updos and down ‘dos, but it also doesn’t mean we’re not totally crushing on pretty, embellished designs too. Credit: @teralatilan

Feeling bored of rocking the same old bun? Well, now you can take your hair game to the next level with a beautiful bun cuff! If we’re really being honest, it’s somewhere in between a hair accessory and jewellery, which is probably why we’re so in awe of it! Credit: @torunnlee

Braid cuffs

Can’t get enough of the bun cuff? Then, luckily for you, the cuff trend is really taking hold of the Instagram hair world. But this time we’re seeing it in smaller proportions, perfect for accessorising ’90s-style box braids and pretty plaits.

It’s discreet and it looks like you’ve just subtly embellished your tresses, making it the perfect option for minimalist braid lovers (us included!). Credit: @boxochocolates

Trust us when we say: hair combs are cool!

Quickly dispel any notions of ornate, heirloom-like accessories, because this term, the hair comb is sleek, streamline and more modern than you’ve ever seen it before. Not to mention, they’re also very practical as they work with most hair lengths and types. Bonus! Credit: @candiwithemma
