With award season underway and the Oscars race in full swing, we can barely keep up with all of the red carpet glamour (not that we’re complaining, we love it really). And last night it was the turn of the 24th Screen Actors’ Guild Awards (AKA the SAG awards) in Hollywood, where all our favourite celebs turned out in their finest!
If you want to see who scooped had the best hair, check out our gallery above and scroll on down for our verdict on the styles.
The SAG Award 2018 hairstyles everyone’s talking about
Yara Shahidi’s voluminous curls
Yara Shahidi’s hair was by far the biggest conversation point and you just have to look at it to understand why. Her voluminous, natural curls are the stuff of dreams and she’s the perfect role model for naturalistas everywhere.
Editor’s tip: If you’re rocking your natural hair like Yara, keep your curls healthy and hydrated using a leave in spray.
The TRESemmé Botanique Nourish & Replenish Hydrating Mist is a great one as you can simply spritz whenever you need a moisture boost and it’ll help define your curls.
Yvonne Strahovski’s double bun
Natalia Dyer’s chignon
Another awards show, another chignon, right? Well, yes, but Natalia Dyer shook things up a little with her take on the classic ballerina bun with this twisted knot, making this awards season classic that bit more unique.
Halle Berry’s bubble pony
Sometimes simplicity really is the most impactful, and Halle Berry’s full and flowing bubble pony paired perfectly with her deep, V-back gown.
Danielle Brooks’ finger waves
Editor’s tip: Find out how you can get the flapper girl look yourself with our tutorial, here. And don’t forget that shine!
For a high glam finish like Danielle’s, be sure to opt for a glossy, wet-look product like the VO5 Wet Look Styling Gel to provide you with hold, while also giving you that authentic shimmering result.
Vanessa Kirby’s wet-look pony
After her incredible chain-embellished plait at last year’s awards, we had high hopes for The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby. This time around she stunned with a wet look, low pony and clipped back sides, which showed off those b-e-a-utiful statement earrings.
The best hairstyles from the SAG Awards 2017
Feeling nostalgic? See the looks we were loving this time last year with our SAG Awards 2017 throwback…
American singer Janelle Monae is the reigning queen of hair accessories (her googly eye buns will go down in history!), and last night’s hairstyle certainly didn’t disappoint. For the red carpet event, she opted for one of her favourite space bun styles, which was adorned with a dainty silver headband and flowers for a cute, yet classy feel. Ooh la la!
Actress Emily Blunt has been sporting golden blonde hair for a few months, but now she’s unveiled an even lighter highlighted hue, which we love. Her newly lightened locks were styled into a sleek, straightened shoulder-length ‘do with a glamorous deep side parting.
Editor’s tip: If Emily has tempted you to try out a lighter blonde hue, then remember to switch up your shampoo and conditioner for a duo that’s been specially formulated for coloured hair. We recommend the Toni&Guy Illuminate Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner, which will help to maintain your colour’s vibrancy.
Famous for her role in the Netflix series Stranger Things, actress Natalia Dyer sported a modern bob haircut at the SAG Awards 2017 ceremony. Her short crop was styled into elegant voluminous curls, and if you ask us, her hairstyle choice alone proves that she’s definitely one to watch.
Editor’s tip: To help make your locks look as shiny as Natalia’s, spritz them with the TIGI Catwalk Camera Ready Shine Spray.
Australian actress and film producer Nicole Kidman is certainly no stranger to awards shows. Last night, she ensured that all of the attention was kept firmly on her with a showstopping green sequin dress and an equally mesmerising hairstyle. Her gorgeous strawberry blonde hair was styled into a low twisted updo, which had a few curled, face-framing strands left loose near the front.
At the SAG Awards 2017, model and TV presenter Chrissy Teigen oozed Hollywood glamour with this classic hairstyle. Her waist-length ombre hair was swept to one side and styled into loose, tumbling waves. To complete her glitzy look, Chrissy paired her red-carpet worthy hairstyle with a swipe of red lipstick. What a star!
