Pinterest unveils top bridal trends & ofc, they’re all dreamy

Wedding binders at the ready!

Pinterest, aka every bride-to-be’s haven of wedding-related inspiration, recently released its 2018 wedding report and with it, revealed the 3 biggest trending bridal hair looks for the year.

In the past, Pinterest’s predictions have been spot on (you can check out our previous Pinterest posts for confirmation), so if they say a look is going to be big, there’s a very good chance we’ll all be rocking them in a few months’ time. So, with that in mind, cast your eyes upon the leading looks brides everywhere will be saying “I do” to this year…

1. Messy updos

Weddings, in general, have been shifting towards more natural, boho themes and this is true for hair now too. Pristine, painfully neat updos are out and more relaxed, wispy styles are in, with pins for messy updos up by 1247%.

Whether it’s a messy bun, a chignon or a French tuck, the new trend is all about incorporating texture into the look and creating something natural that allows you to feel like yourself on the big day. After all, nobody should spend their wedding day worrying about a stray piece of hair. Credit: @kirstyannehair

2. Hair combs

Hair accessories for weddings fell out of popularity a bit for a while but now it seems they’re making a comeback, at least if the reported 89% rise in hair combs is anything to go by.

These dainty hair clips, often embellished with crystals or pearls, are a great way to add floral detailing into your look without having to wear real fresh flowers in your hair (which can wilt, fall out and even cause allergies if you’re sensitive to pollen!). Plus, you’ll be able to keep the comb forever as a reminder of the day, so it’s a great memento to hold onto after the celebrations have passed. Credit: @saysocessories

3. Soft waves with side parts

As is often the case, the red carpet has also played into this season’s bridal hair trends, with Pinterest noting a 55% increase in saved pins for soft waves with side parts.

This is something we’ve seen on everyone from Jessica Alba to Megan Fox, so it’s no wonder that many of us are gravitating towards the ultra-glam look to tie the knot. The deep side parting is a nice touch too, as it makes your regular party curls that bit more special, as well as making your hair look fuller. Credit: @asharakhamodelling

Editor’s tip: Considering doing your own hair for your wedding? To create a gorgeous wavy style like this one, just scrunch a small amount of a wave memorising product like the Toni&Guy Wave Memorising Balm through towel-dried hair before you start styling. The wave recall technology will help the curls to hold their shape and make it easier to revive them if they start to drop.

Then, afterwards, once you’ve finished styling your waves, remember to set them with a light misting of a shine-boosting hairspray like the TONI&GUY Flawless Sleek Creation Hairspray to keep them looking polished all the way from the ceremony to the reception.
