The surprise hair colour trend that’ll have you reaching for those sticker albums in a second!
We know what you’re thinking: a patterned undercut for women, really? It might sound a little out there, but believe it or not, it’s fast becoming the hair trend du jour on our Insta feeds.
Inspired by Lisa Frank’s cutesy, colourful artwork and designs (remember those?), it’s safe to say this hair trend is the embodiment of the ’80s and ’90s, boasting bright rainbow, neon colours and cute animals, like pandas and dolphins, not to mention (our fave) leopard and tiger prints!
We’re really loving all these vibrant #flashbackfriday-worthy recreations and so will you. Just click through our gallery above, or scroll down to see our absolute favourites from Instagram.
Get colourful with a patterned undercut
Micro bangs and braids
If you’re the type to go all out with your look, then hold nothing back and recreate this Instagrammer’s incredible style.
Working on-trend micro bangs, perfectly-woven Dutch braids and a beautiful patterned undercut, this look is a riot of colour and an eclectic mix of styles. Credit: @piggyhuggums
These patterned undercuts are often inspired by animal pattens and paired with bright neon hair colours.
This process is very similar to traditional hair colouring processes and can be done by carefully painting the desired animal print or motif, so that your chosen base colour really pops! Credit: @tiffanycathleen
Most people sporting this statement look are also working it with this season’s rainbow and mermaid hair colour trends. However, if you’re looking for something a little more discreet, we suggest creating a peekaboo effect, by working your Lisa Frank-inspired undercut with your natural hair colour. Credit: @missrahne

And if leopard prints aren’t up your street? Don’t worry, we’ve also spotted tiger patterns adding stripy interest to undercuts, too.
