NTAs 2019: The best hair moments

And the award for the best hair goes to...

Last night saw the National Television Awards 2019 ceremony take place in  London to celebrate stars of the small screen. As you can imagine, it was a star-studded bash, with celebrities like Holly Willoughby and Rochelle Humes in attendance.

While most people tuned in to watch the A-list stars scoop up an award, the All Things Hair team were busy gazing at the marvellous hairstyles on offer. Want to see our pick of the best? Of course you do – just keep on scrolling.

Holly stole the show last night (and made us consider getting short hair!) with her gorgeous, elegant faux bob hairstyle.

National Television Awards 2019: Emma Willis on the red carpet with a platinum swept-back pixie haircut, wearing all black

Emma Willis

All eyes were on Emma Willis and we like to think it has everything to do with her new platinum hair colour, which paired perfectly with her signature swept-back pixie cut. We’re sure this will become one of Emma’s reigning red carpet looks.

Editor’s tip: Thinking about going brighter? You’ll need a purple shampoo. The TRESemmé Violet Blonde Shine Shampoo contains violet toning pigment to cancel out any yellowing, as well as pearl extract to provide shine and nourishment, so the hair isn’t left feeling dry.

National Television Awards 2019: Rochelle Humes with medium long defined curls, wearing a white dress on the red carpet

Rochelle Humes

For the star-studded affair, Rochelle went with defined, sultry curls, which she teamed with a white dress fit for a Greek Goddess. Did we forget to mention how hard we’re crushing on her chocolate brown ombre?

National Television Awards 2019: Maya Jama with a shoulder length blunt haircut, wearing a grey dress on the red carpet

Maya Jama

Maya Jama knows what’s up. She’s rocking the most fashion-forward hair trend of them all: glass hair. Her polished, blunt cut hairstyle definitely gets a shiny hair award from us.

Editor’s tip: Want to try this sleek look? Then don’t forget to take the VO5 Flyaway Touch-Up Wand out with you — its perfect for emergency touch-ups! Like a magic mascara wand for your hair, it smooths down static or flyaway hairs for a flawless finish.

National Television Awards 2019: Pixie Lott with super straight shoulder-length golden blonde hair with flicked out ends, wearing a neon pink blazer

Pixie Lott

It doesn’t get anymore classic than a Michelle Pfeiffer-worthy blow out, like we spotted on singer Pixie Lott. To give her power look a stylish edge, she teamed her ‘do with a neon pink blazer and matching trousers.

National Television Awards 2019: Chloe Lewis with chestnut brown hair styled into a wavy ponytail with face-framing wisps, wearing big heart-shaped earrings with white low-cut dress
Who else is going to try this look on Valentine’s day? Credit: Rex by Shutterstock

Chloe Lewis

Nothing get us more excited than a ponytail on the red carpet. Chloe wore this romantic, wavy ponytail with wispy face-framing layers, and we’re tempted to give this look a go for Valentine’s.

National Television Awards 2019: Caroline Flack on the red carpet with long ash brown wavy hair, wearing orange dress with hoop earrings

Caroline Flack

If you want to look like a Love Island babe 24-7, you’ll need to make sea salt spray your new BFF, and then wear your mane in dreamy beachy waves, just like Caroline did for the red carpet.

National Television Awards 2019: Gemma Collins on red carpet with a wispy fringe and ballerina bun updo, wearing all black and posing next to Arg

Gemma Collins

This year is all about bangs, and Gemma Collins’ wispy bangs are the look to steal this season. The best way to style them? With a ballerina bun, of course.

Amber Davies

Wearing her waist-length tresses in ’80s-inspired corkscrew curls, the Love Island babe wowed on the red carpet last night. Following in the footsteps of Bella Hadid and Gabrielle Union, this ultra glam look continues to go from strength to strength.

The ’80s-inspired styles you can’t ignore.

Ferne McCann

Ferne McCann showed off her new blonde hue with a high ponytail which perfectly showed off her backless dress. To make sure your look is ready for the red carpet, wrap a piece of your hair around the base of your ponytail and secure using a bobby pin. This will hide your elastic band and make your style look even cuter!

The best ponytail hairstyles to try now.

Jennifer Metcalfe

Styling her long dark brown tresses in a messy high bun, the Hollyoaks actress added a fresh set of bangs to finish her look. However we have a sneaky suspicion that those bangs are in fact the ends of her hair, styled to look like bangs (or a clever clip in) – either way we love this look on Jennifer.

Laura Whitmore

From Maya Jama to Laura Whitmore, no red carpet is complete without someone styling their tresses in a side-parted wavy finish – it really is a red carpet fave and we can see why!

The best red carpet hairstyles a girl could ask for.

Sarah Harding

There is nothing we love more than braided hairstyles at All Things Hair, so obviously we fell totally in love with Sarah Harding’s halo braid.

Master the halo braid with Chessie King.

Editor’s tip: To help your braided style withstand the elements, spritz your tresses with TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray before braiding.

Not just for creating beach waves, a sea salt spray adds grit to your hair, making it perfect for holding braided styles in place for longer.

Vanessa White

It was a mini The Saturdays reunion yesterday with Mollie King, Rochelle Humes and Vanessa White in attendance! While they all had fab hairstyles, we have to say it was Vanessa’s dark wavy bob that made our final cut.

Make your bob pop with this hair colour.

Our favourite hairstyles from the NTAs 2017

It may have been a year since the last NTAs but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate all the good hairstyles from the red carpet in 2017.

Helen George

Call the Midwife star Helen George has been sporting pastel pink hair for a while now, but we noticed that last night, her tresses looked slightly different! Notice how her mane starts off with a rose gold hue at the roots, before transforming into a flirty pink colour. Ooh la la!

Lilah Parsons

Presenter and DJ Lilah Parsons opted to style her long bob into textured waves for the red carpet event. As well as tucking one side of her mane behind her ear, Lilah left her hair parting uneven to add to the undone, disheveled look.

Holly Willoughby

This Morning TV presenter Holly Willoughby never fails to wow us in the hair department, and last night was no different. The blonde bombshell flaunted a flirty wavy hairstyle, while the front section of her hair was twisted and pinned back for a pretty finish.

Alesha Dixon

British singer Alesha Dixon sported a fashion-forward top knot for the NTAs 2017 awards ceremony, and we’re totally digging it! She paired her hair-raising updo with a choppy, side-swept face-framing layers – now if that’s not red carpet-worthy, we don’t know what is!

Jennie McAlpine red curly hair
The hue, the curls, there is nothing we don’t love about Jennie McAlpine’s hair. Credit: Rex by Shutterstock.

Jennie McAlpine

Known for her role as Fiz Brown in the soap opera Coronation Street, Jennie McAlpine left her natural curls on show for the event, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Her fiery red mane looked super glamorous, and it’s making us want to embrace our natural hair texture, too!
