MTV EMAs 2018: See who scooped up the Best Hair Award
The winning looks at the MTV EMAs 2018.
This weekend the Spanish city of Bibao played host to the MTV Europe Music Awards. Bringing together some of the hottest stars in music, the guest list featured everyone from the big winner of the night, Camila Cabello to Little Mix (who performed on stage with Nicki Minaj, no less!) and even Janet Jackson.
Obviously, with so many stars in one place the hair was always going to be a talking point and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Ahead, 5 of our favourite celebrity hairstyles from this year’s MTV EMAs 2018.
All the best hairstyles from the MTV EMAs 2018
Camila Cabello’s Ariana Grande inspired ponytail
Camila Cabello did her best Ariana Grande impression for the occasion, wearing her dark hair in a high curly ponytail with cool parted bangs.
But as Camila soon found out, it’s not easy being Ari, with the star tweeting “I just did a high ponytail for the first time and it is literally pulling on my BRAIN ITS SO PAINFUL HOW DO YOU DO IT @ArianaGrande”. Beauty is pain people, beauty is pain.
Jourdan Dunn’s cornrow ponytail
After seeing this look we’re convinced Jourdan Dunn needs to be in a Cinderella remake, because this hairstyle is fresh out of a fairytale.
A stunning cornrow braided ponytail with defined curly ends, silver thread woven through the braids and around the base of her pony gave a touch of sparkle.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock green braids
Little Mix‘s Leigh-Anne debuted new green box braids, which she wore tied in a bun with a few loose braids free around her face for a ’90s feel.
Leigh-Anne’s was feeling her new look just as much as us, sharing selfies of her rocking her fresh braids on Instagram with a quote from their new single Joan of Arc, “Fan of myself I’m stanning myself, I love me so much can’t keep my hands off myself… ?””. We’d be saying the same if our hair looked this good too.
Rose Bertram’s curls
Showcasing her enviable curls in this Sandy from Grease inspired look, model Rose Bertram wore her blonde curls pinned back in place with bobby pins. It’s electrifying!
Editor’s tip: Steal Rose’s bouncy ringlet curls with a curl-enhancing mousse like the VO5 Curl Defining Mousse. This one won’t leave your locks feeling crunchy and provides plenty of hold and definition for creating perfect curls.
Laura Whitmore’s princess crown
MTV‘s own Laura Whitmore looked gorgeous with her ashy blonde hair worn in a center parting and curled in voluminous waves. But the real showstopper of the look? A simple but glam black and gold jewel-encrusted crown, similar to some we’ve spotted on the D&G catwalks.

MTV EMA 2017: Hair winners list
Camila Cabello’s retro ponytail
While half of her heart may be in Havana, it certainly didn’t hold the Cuban-American singer back at the event last night, especially when she scooped the Best Pop Award.
Giving a nod to the swinging ‘60s by wearing her raven long tresses in a retro-inspired bouffant ponytail, Camila Cabello finished off her look with perfectly matched Bardot bangs. Credit: @camila_cabello
Editor’s tip: The key to Camila’s look is all in the roots. Sprinkle the VO5 Instant Volume Powder to give your roots the added volume and bounce they need to rock this bouffant style day and night!
Lana Del Rey’s classic waves
Best Alternative nominee Lana Del Rey went for a classic hairstyle last night and we wouldn’t expect anything less than perfect from our fave pop icon.
Never one to stray too far away from her signature, retro-inspired hairdos, Lana wore her chocolate brown tresses in a side parting and added large Hollywood waves, which sat perfectly on her shoulders. Credit: @lanadelreyfanpage_lfl
Demi Lovato’s Cher hair
Adding plenty of length to her glossy dark locks, Demi Lovato went for a high impact look at the 2017 MTV EMA. Parting her hair down the centre, Demi wore her Rapunzel-length tresses over one shoulder, which we must say heavily resembles the popular Cher-inspired hairstyle favoured by Kim Kardashian.
But this isn’t the first time Demi has gone for waist-length tresses, as the singer often returns to the style – and we can see why, she looks utterly fabulous! Credit: @ddlovato
Editor’s tip: With party season almost here, there is no better time to shine! Get Demi’s shimmering finish on your tresses by applying a few pumps of the TONI&GUY High Shine Drops through the lengths of your hair. Not only will this help tame frizz and flyaways, but your tresses will have a lovely sheen, too!
Maya Jama’s half-up, half-down waves
Maya Jama’s profile is going from strength to strength and with it, she is showcasing some fab hairstyles.
Posing up a storm(zy) on the red carpet, it was the presenter and radio DJ’s sky-high hairstyle that really stole our attention. Maya wore her dark hair in a half-up, half-down style and added waves through the lengths of her tresses for a soft finish. Credit: @mayajama
