Miss Jamaica just broke the Internet by wearing her afro at Miss Universe
Those familiar with the Miss Universe beauty pageant are likely to characterise the parade of contestants who participate as beautiful with long, blown out hair. However, this year, Davina Bennett challenged this by wearing an iconic afro hairstyle.
Considering we still hear stories about women being told their natural hair is inappropriate at work and school, by coming second in the contest, Davina proved that natural hair can be accepted and celebrated as much as any other hairstyle. #Slay!
Though Davina didn’t take home the Miss Universe crown, fans gave the runner-up an outpouring of love for her and her amazing short afro hairstyle.
