Milan Fashion Week FW19: Street style hairstyles worth embracing
The world is your runway, ladies!
London passed over the fashion month baton to Milan, where globally renowned fashion houses like Alberta Ferretti and Dolce & Gabbana showcased their FW19 collections.
After seeing such stylish street stylers in New York and London, we couldn’t wait to see what the streets of Milan had to offer in terms of hairstyle inspiration. And as we’d hoped, the city certainly wasn’t short on style…
Headscarf styles
If there’s one hair trend that will sum up this season, it would be hair accessories. From hair slides in New York to outstanding headbands in London, all eyes were on Milan to see what hair accessory they’d showcase.
Never one to let us down, the ladies of Milan opted for satin headscarves which they effortlessly tied around undone buns.
Blunt bob
Being the trendwatchers that we are at All Things Hair, we’ve made special note of this blunt bob style. We’ll even go so far as to say it might just be the haircut of the season.
But how is this bob different from all other bobs you ask? A strong blunt cut and a poker-straight finish are the hallmarks of this fashion blogger hairstyle.
Editor’s tip: Achieve silky smooth hair that’s still full of natural movement with the TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray.
Use on damp hair before blow-drying and for best results make sure the nozzle of the hairdryer is pointing downwards to help boost the cuticle-smoothing effect.
Side quiff
Quiffs are often thought of as a boy’s hairstyle, but who said us girls can’t get in on the style too?
The key to this trend is to make the style look effortless. Hair should be worn loose and full of natural movement and your quiff subtle enough to not look deliberate but still obviously there.
Editor’s tip: To give your quiff 24hr hold we recommend applying a small the VO5 Wet Look Styling Gel to the palms of your hand and then finger raking into position.
Polished layers
Avant-garde and adventurous hairstyles are quite the norm in New York and London, while in Milan and Paris, styles are starting to become more refined and polished.
Case in point, this fashion week lover oozed sophistication with a blowout hairstyle that showed off her long layers.

Bun and bangs
Bangs AKA fringes have been making a comeback for quite some time. So whether you’re currently rocking a Birkin or mini, get the Milan look by wearing your chosen bangs with a high bun this season.
Caps
The love for hair accessories was apparent by the volume of women spotted on the streets of Milan with baseball caps. This totally unexpected trend is sure to be a big hit when trying to go incognito.
Baseball caps not for you? You can also work the sports trend with a bucket hat.
SS18 street style looks you can still wear today
Don’t miss the opportunity to wear some of the previous season’s hottest hairstyles that are too good to forget.
Chic berets
You’re probably getting sick of hearing us go on about berets by this point, but there’s no denying that French girl hair is one of the biggest trends around right now.
They instantly give a plain outfit a cosmopolitan twist and they’re the perfect antidote for bad hair days, so it’s no wonder the #fbloggers are lapping up the look.
Pretty pixies
Gender fluidity in fashion is on the rise and this idea is set to transcend into the world of hair, too.
We’ve already seen stars like Kristen Stewart ditch their long locks for more androgynous buzz cuts, but if this seems too severe, you can still emulate the trend with a softer pixie cut.
Editor’s tip: To make your pixie look more piecey, take a small amount of the VO5 Classic Styling Soft Moulding Wax and work it through your hair. This will help to shape and style your pixie into your desired look, without it leaving your hair feeling sticky or stiff.
Super short bobs
If you thought we’d exhausted all possible variations of the bob and lob trend, think again!
This season’s take on the classic bob cut is shorter, more angular and a fashion statement in itself. Pair this minimalist style with bold brights or busy patterns and the contrast will give you a high-fashion finish that the paparazzi will go nuts for.
Jewelled headbands
Earlier this year, tiaras were spotted on everyone from Rita Ora to Chiara Ferragni; however, it seems they’ve had their moment and it’s time for a new regal look to take their place.
This season, the street stylers shunned delicate tiaras for elaborate, embellished headbands, which gave a more exotic, mysterious vibe to their ensembles. Bow down to the queen bee!
Coloured hair wraps
Remember those colourful hair wraps you used to get on beach holidays? Sure enough, coloured wraps are back!
Giving a free-spirited, playful look to this brunette‘s boho attire, we wouldn’t be surprised if this became next year’s hottest new festival hair trend!
