When it comes to professional golfers, American sportswoman Michelle Wie is one of our biggest hair crushes. Wondering why? Well, it’s because she’s always sporting fabulous hairstyles on and off the golf course. She’s rocked a dreamy rainbow-coloured ponytail, a variety of buns and some awesome braids – and slayed them all!
And just when we thought we couldn’t possibly love her anymore, she goes and debuts the coolest patriotic cornrow braided hairstyle ever in the run up for the Solheim Cup golf tournament. Want to see? Then you better keep on scrolling…
Michelle Wie just made patriotic braids a thing!
Seeing as the Solheim Cup golf tournament is kicking off soon, the 27-year-old clearly wanted to bring her A-game by paying homage to America in the coolest way possible: through her hair.
As you can tell, the star’s long dark brown hair has been woven into uber-stylish cornrows, which have been interlaced with pops of white, red and blue to represent the colours of the American flag — pretty impressive, right?
Now, if you’ve been keeping up with the ebb and flow of hair trends as of late, you’ll know that we predicated ribbon braids would be hot-to-trot this season, and Michelle’s patriotic plaits are totally proving us right.
Editor’s tip: Tempted to recreate Michelle’s cornrow hairstyle but worried your straight locks won’t hold the style? Before you braid your hair, make sure to spritz them with a texturising spray, like the VO5 Dry Texturising Spray. This will give grip to slippery strands and make your braids last all day.
While it’s too early to tell if she’ll win the Solhiem Cup (us hair mystics can’t see into the future, you know!), she is already acing the mane game with this hairstyle. We’re rooting for you, Michelle!
