Trend report: London Fashion Week spring/summer 2017
Crimped hair at Topshop Unique SS17
We’ve noticed that crimped hair has been on the rise for a while now, and thanks to Ariana Grande, who sported her crimped ponytail a few weeks back, the look is set to sky-rocket to popularity. But if you’re thinking that there’s nothing new about crimped hair, then you need to take a look at the Topshop Unique SS17 show.
Models rocked crimped bedhead locks that were swept up and over to one side in a uniquely retro fashion – proving that this reinvented hair trend is here to stay.
Bubble ponytails at Molly Goddard SS17
If there’s one person we can reply on to provide us with some fun and quirky hairstyles at fashion week, it’s definitely Molly Goddard!
You may remember, we reported a few months ago that bubble ponytails were a hot variation on the traditional pony hairstyle – and guess what? It just so happened that they were also the mane attraction (get it?) at the Molly Goddard SS17 show!
Two-tone hair at Ashley Williams SS17
Can’t decide between blonde or brown hair? Well, neither could the stylists at the Ashley Williams SS17 show it would seem!
But don’t worry, because two-tone hair is on the rise, and it’s now perfectly acceptable to rock two contrasting shades at once, y’know, ‘cos the LFW runways said so.
Edgy beach waves at Julien Macdonald SS17
Holiday season might be over, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still rock beach waves, right? If you’re not ready to let go of this favoured summer look, then follow in the footsteps of the models at Julien Macdonald SS17 and opt for an edgier take on the hairstyle (think crunchy, wet-look waves).
Editor’s tip: Try using a mousse, like the VO5 Plump It Up Weightless Mousse to achieve that perfect crinkle effect.
Low knots at Emilio de la Morena SS17
Not all runway hairstyles take hours to create, you know!
Casual ‘dos that take seconds to complete were also a hot trend on this season’s catwalks, with the models at Emilio de la Morena SS17 sporting chic, but laid-back low knots. It may look like a type of lazy girl’s hairstyle, but trust us, it’s going to be a big hit with A-listers.
Embellished headbands at Mary Katrantzou SS17
This may not strictly be a hairstyle, but we think you’ll agree, it definitely deserves a place on our hottest LFW hairstyles list!
Colourfully embellished headbands and clips were at the forefront of Mary Katrantzou’s SS17 show, with models rocking a variety of hair accessories to amp up their loosely curled runway looks. Can we borrow them sometime, guys?
Bollywood inspired braids at Ashish SS17
It’s no secret that braids are one of our absolute favourite hairstyles for 2016, but the Ashish SS17 show proved that this coveted style is here to stay for 2017, too! At the extravagant show, models flaunted interwoven, embellished braids and ornate head pieces – we can’t help but think that everyone will be working Indian wedding hairstyles after this!
