Models flaunted ‘cartoon hair’ at the Fendi SS17 show
Hair accessories shaped like sweets? Yes please!
It’s not everyday that runway hairstyles are inspired by cartoon films, but this just so happened to be the case at the Fendi spring/summer 2017 show in Milan. Yep, it’s true: the funky ‘dos flaunted by the models were inspired by Wreck-It Ralph‘s cartoon character, Vanellope von Schweetz (AKA the Candy Princess).
So, if you’re looking to imitate a playful runaway hairstyle, read below to get the full lowdown on the animation-inspired Fendi SS17 look!
Fendi SS17: The ‘cartoon hair’ trend
To create the Vanellope-esque sugar drop hairstyle, each look had to be affixed with Fendi’s acrylic bag studs, which came in an array of different colours and shapes.
The quirky studs were wired onto bobby pins, before being randomly placed onto the half-up, half-down pigtails of the models. We can’t help but think that these ‘dos look like little works of art, don’t you agree?
And the fun didn’t stop there, oh no! Because the hairstylists backstage created not one, but around 5 different looks (think classic half-up, half-down ‘dos, both low and high side ponytails, Baby Spice-inspired pigtails, and even ponies with loose tendrils of hair).
Keeping in tune with the playful cartoon vibe, the models’ makeup featured a set of glittering lips and graphic lined eyes – which we’re totally in love with, BTW.
