Fashion week report: Fresh off the runway AW18 hairstyles we predict to be big this season
From Sao Paulo to Paris and Milan, we've covered them all...
It’s safe to say that the autumn/winter 2018 runways offered up some utterly stunning hairstyles, with the All Things Hair team practically drooling over all of the unique looks on display. And since a number of fashion weeks took place all around the globe, we thought it might be fitting to do a round-up of the best AW18 fashion week hairstyles from the different cities (because, why not?).
See them all by flicking through our gallery above, and read on to discover which trend-setting styles made our exclusive cut.
AW18 Fashion week hairstyles from every city

New York: Side partings & natural texture
We often see deep side partings on the runway but none like what we saw at Anna Sui.
Ditching the smooth and sleek styles normally associated with deep side partings, the models were given natural-looking texture and a sweeping side fringe. Now we don’t know about you, but it gave us serious ’90s nostalgia – Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell, anyone?

Milan: Jackie Kennedy vibes
Moschino’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott turned to former-First Lady Jakie Kennedy for inspiration at the brand’s AW18 runway show in Milan.
From the matching 2-piece suits to the pillbox hats, models like Kaia Gerber donned wigs styled into retro ‘60s bouffants – complete with Jackie’s trademark flicked out ends, of course.
Editor’s tip: If you’re thinking of creating this perfectly coiffed style at home, we suggest you get fully acquainted with a hairspray as creating this style without one may prove to be tricky.
We love the VO5 Volume Creation Hairspray not only for sealing our style in place with an all-day hold but for building volume from root to tip, too!

London: Knotted braids
From traditional 3-strand braids to fishtails, we have seen every braided style imaginable at fashion week. So when we spotted knotted braids at Simone Rocha, you can imagine our excitement!
These intricately weaved knotted braids were finished with a satin ribbon for an added touch of femininity and romanticism, which we expect to see plenty of this summer. And don’t worry if you’re a braiding rookie, all you need to do is check out our expert guide to braiding – you’ll have it mastered in no time.

Paris: Wet-look styles
Still picking up steam is the highly-coveted wet look hair trend that we have seen all the A-list stars wear recently. And doing it best at Paris Fashion Week were the models at Alexander McQueen.
Wearing their tresses pulled back into a bun, models’ hair was smoothed back for a flawless frizz-free and high-shine finish that will look equally good for date night as it does on the runway.
Editor’s tip: Get the ultimate hold of a gel with a spray. With all-day hold and UV filter, the VO5 Mega Hold Gel Spray is the hair essential you will need if you are thinking about channelling this look at home.
Our fave fashion week hairstyles from past seasons

Berlin: Bouffants and veils
You’ll be pleased to hear that hair accessories made a big comeback for AW16, and especially so in Berlin. Models at the Ewa Herzog show were sent down the runway with backcombed, bouffant hair, which was accessorised with beautiful birdcage veils.
It seems like this trend is already starting to catch on because Kate Middleton was recently seen sporting a hair net herself!

Editor’s tip: Want to know how to achieve that dramatic height on your bouffant? Try spritzing some TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray all over (concentrating on the roots) before backcombing!

Milan: Contrasting fringes
One hair colour not enough for you? Then draw some inspiration from the Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan, where models sported coloured clip-in fringes that contrasted to the rest of their hair.
To top off their bangs, each one was paired with a highly embellished headband for a glittering finish!

New York: Voluminous ringlets
Love volume and curls? So does the city of New York! While most people completely avoid brushing out their natural (or faux) curls, the Mara Hoffman AW16 show paid tribute to unruly ringlets. We love how the models’ hair begins sleek and straight at the top, before being transformed into voluminous curls below.
Editor’s tip: If you want to give this New York look a go yourself, remember to invest in a shine-enhancing spray, like the TIGI Bed Head Headrush Shine Hairspray. This look may be all about brushed-out curls, but they still need to look shiny!

Copenhagen: Interwoven crown braids
If a normal crown braid is too boring for you, then follow in the footsteps of Via Design and weave a satin ribbon through your plait. It’s the perfect way to add a touch of elegance to your ethereal updo. And if you’re feeling particularly colourful, you can try weaving more than one ribbon of different hues!

Oslo: Wet look hair
It’s no secret that wet look hair has become a huge trend as of late (thanks to the likes of Kim Kardashian and Gigi Hadid). And it seems that Oslo has picked up on the fact that this hairstyle is perfect for both the catwalk and party season!

London: Braids
If you’ve yet to jump on the braids bandwagon, then you’re seriously missing out! Not only were they the hottest hairstyle for summer 2016, but they’ve also been flaunted all over the London catwalks (check the Bora Aksu AW16 show for proof!).

Sao Paulo: Mini mohawks
Whoever thought that mohawks and hoop earrings were never coming back has got it so wrong, because São Paulo Fashion Week saw models showcasing both these hot ’90s trends! We think you’ll agree, this look is simple, sophisticated and elegant. What more could you want from your ‘do?

Paris: Finger waves
The roaring ’20s may have given birth to finger waves, but the city of Paris has proved that the vintage era lives on in the form of soft, subtle wavy hairdos. We love how the models at Stella McCartney had the front of their ‘dos styled into loose finger waves, while the look was completed with a swipe of iridescent eyeshadow. It was all retro vibes and modern eyes!
If you’re looking for more runway styles and missed the shows from spring/ summer 2017, then catch up with all the backstage buzz and see what looks celebrity stylists Jeanie Syfu and Orlando Pita whipped up!
Editor’s tip: We wouldn’t blame you for wanting to create this look but if you do, you will need a gel product to help shape your style. We suggest VO5 Wet Look Styling Gel for steady control and 24-hour hold.
