Coachella beauty 2018: The best desert hairstyles from this year’s festival
These celebs deffo got the festival hair memo.
Unless you were on a social media ban over the weekend and missed the endless Coachella pics, (can we all just take a moment to appreciate Beyoncé‘s set and that Destiny’s Child reunion? Anyway, we digress.), you’ll no doubt have spotted all the stars frolicking about in the desert living their best lives.
As the first major festival of the season, every year celebs use Coachella as an excuse to get playful with their hair – and this year was certainly no exception. Take a look at some of the most standout styles from this year’s musical event below, and see what’s set to be big in hair this festival season.
Coachella: The best festival hairstyles from our favourite stars
Kylie’s hot pink hue
New mama Kylie Jenner is known for her iconic Coachella styles (her highlighter hue sparked off a whole neon hair trend last year, remember?!) and this year she definitely didn’t shy away from the bold brights.

Kylie’s denim mane
You didn’t think Kylie would settle for wearing just one look to Coachella, did you? Don’t be silly!
With her second look, she went for a slightly more muted (yet no less showstopping) indigo blue shade. Could this mark the return of the denim hair trend? With the power of Kylie, it’ll only be a matter of time! Credit: @kyliejenner
Editor’s tip: If you’re planning on doing a Kylie this summer and experimenting with colour, make sure you’re giving your colour the best chance at lasting by using a colour protect shampoo and conditioner.
The Dove Colour Care Shampoo and Conditioner are ideal, as the Vibrant Colour Lock formula helps keep colour looking fresh for longer. That way, even once the post-festival blues start to set in, your hair will still be popping!
Bella Hadid’s scrunchie
Bella kept things simple with this casual ’90s-inspired style and what better way to exude those ’90s vibes than with a scrunchie? Not only did it keep her hair back and out of the way (a girl’s gotta keep cool in the desert!), it also complimented her crisp white outfit details. Credit: @bellahadid
Joan Smalls’ ombre box braids
Braids are a total festival staple, but that’s not to say they’re not just as exciting. Joan Smalls wowed us all with her braids for days, which featured a red ombre to add a bright pop of colour to her box braids.

Romee Strijd’s pipe braids
Every year there’s a star that makes us immediately want to try and recreate their look, and this year Romee Strijd was that for us. Her unique pipe braids were made even more festival-appropriate thanks to pink woven elastic bands – who knew rubber bands had so many uses?! Credit: @hairbyruslan
Editor’s tip: A sea salt spray, like the TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray, is a must for any festival-goer.
Not only are they great for adding grit and texture to braided styles like Romee’s, they also help to add a beachy texture to the hair and enhance any waves. We love a multi-tasker!
Elsa Hosk’s pastel pink tint
Pastel hair is a look that comes back time and again, so it’s no surprise that we saw it cropping up in Palm Springs.

Patricia Bright’s lilac look
UK blogger favourite Patricia Bright had been teasing her purple wig on Instagram for a few days before she descended on the desert, so we were more than excited to see the full get up in all its glory!

A throwback to Coachella 2017’s best festival styles
Heading to a festival yourself this summer? Get plenty more festival inspiration below from last year’s most memorable looks…
Kylie Jenner
Let’s start with another episode of Keeping Up with Kylie Jenner’s hair. The reality star unveiled an eye-catching highlighter yellow wig – which was cut into a blunt lob – and we kind of love it!
Let’s face it, if anyone can pull off neon yellow hair, it’s Kylie!
Paris Hilton
If you can’t dress up as a rainbow butterfly at Coachella, when can you?!

Poppy Delevingne
Cara Delevingne just got a pixie cut but it was elder sister Poppy’s edgy braid and bun combo that caught our eye at Coachella.
Her ice blonde hair was styled into 2 mini cornrows and worked into half-up space buns. Meanwhile, the rest of her mane was worked into undone wavy curls for a laid-back, California-girl vibe.
Joan Smalls
Puerto Rican model Joan Smalls ditched her trademark raven locks for Coachella in favour of something a little more fun. Opting for a candyfloss pink shade, she paired her new ‘do with a matching pink hoodie and nails for a top-to-toe Barbie doll look! Credit: @joansmalls
Shanina Shaik
VS model Shanina Shaik shocked fans when she debuted a new braided hairstyle at the festival. A pretty major departure from her usual flowing mane, the hip-length box braids showed off the star’s enviable supermodel features. Nope, we’re not jealous at all…
Solange
It was only recently that we reported that Solange had dyed her natural hair a lighter auburn shade for spring, but she’s only gone and changed up her ‘do again!
The singer/songwriter cut her afro into a much shorter, shoulder-length style (that was also dyed a flattering red ombre shade) just in time for the warmer months to come.
Taylor Hill
Taylor Hill channelled major pin-up vibes with her messy bun and retro-inspired bandana hairstyle, making for one of the easiest Coachella hairstyles to date. It’s also the perfect way to keep unwashed hair under wraps at a festival, without scrimping on an ounce of style! Credit: @taylor_hill
