6 next season hair trends from Berlin Fashion Week SS19

Next season's hair trends, now.

Got a fashion week shaped hole in your life? Don’t worry, we’re here with your fashion fix. This week Germany played host to its own celebration of fashion at Berlin Fashion Week, bridging the gap between the February and September shows.

Smaller than the other major city lineups but a no less relevant place to track upcoming trends, this is our first look at the spring/summer 2019 catwalk hair predictions. And if these shows are anything to go by, it’s shaping up to be quite exciting…

The best runway hairstyles from Berlin Fashion Week spring/summer 2019

1. Braided fauxhawks at Anja Gockel

At Anja Gockel, the hair was braided into faux undercuts with rebellious results. Sky-high mohawks and soft curls completed the look for total rock chick vibes that we’re not 100% sure we’re cool enough to pull off.

Editor’s tip: To really emphasise the focus on your mohawk, prep the hair with mousse before styling. Scrunching a mousse, like the TONI&GUY Volume Plumping Mousse into your hair (particularly at the roots) will help to inject more air into the look, giving you more height when you blowdry it.

2. Tucked buns at Danny Reinke

At Danny Reinke hair was neat and slicked-back, tied into a low, tucked bun. The effect? A chic and conservative look with a runway twist.

Editor’s tip: For an immaculate, runway-worthy finish, control any frizz or stray strands with a small amount of the VO5 Frizz Free Cream. This will help to control your mane as well as providing heat defence, which is great if you love to use heat to create your style.

3. Romantic braids at Lana Mueller

Our love affair with braids continues and we’re blaming Lana Mueller. Models sported perfect messy braids at their SS19 show adding a hint of realness and imperfection to the ethereal collection. We just love the beauty in the messiness.

4. Headscarves at Lena Hoschek

At Lena Hoschek, it was all about the headscarves, with girls stepping out with their hair tied up in colourful, Riviera-inspired scarves. Fun and bright, even a simple ponytail or updo can benefit from the additional pops of colour.

5. Floral headpieces at Maison Common

So far, so tame, right? But at Maison Common, we spotted the floral hair trend was taken to whole new realms with huge oversized floral headpieces. Time to hone those floristry skills!

6. Vintage curls at Sportalm

Sportalm celebrated their 65th birthday at this season’s show and marked the occasion by looking back with a specific focus on 1950s style. Hollywood waves and bold pillbox hats gave the look a flirty, retro feel that we love.

Editor’s tip: Keep your curls from falling flat with a hairspray specifically designed to help with curly looks, like the VO5 Wave Creation Hairspray.

We always use this when creating curly looks as unlike other hairsprays, instead of just using it to lock in the style at the end, you can actually use it before and during styling and it’ll help your curls turn out better, and last longer, too.
