All of the Love Island girls’ looks are on point this year and there’s definitely no shortage of hair inspiration in the villa. One girl in particular who’s been giving us mane envy every night is surfer and model Lucie, who’s become known for her crimped-effect beachy waves – and we know we’re not the only ones.
We’ve paired up with VO5 as part of their VO5 X Love Island #LoveIsInTheHair campaign to show you how you can recreate Lucie’s stunning surfer waves yourself, right at home.
Watch the video below, or read on to find out how to copy Lucie’s beach waves.

Inspired by @lucierosedonlan's Love Island locks, our UK Editor Beth shows you how to get her natural beachy waves 🌊☀️ 1. Dampen your hair 2. Plait into multiple small plaits 3. Dry 4. Carefully unbraid and spray with @vo5 hairspray . . . . #LoveIsland2019 #loveisland #hair #instahair #hairstyles #beachwaves #beachyhair #blondehair #luciedonlan #hairinspo #hairgoals #summerhair #loveisinthehair
Step 1: Apply heat protect.
Start by applying the VO5 Heat Protect Spray through damp hair, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
Step 2: Part and plait.
Next, use a comb to divide your hair into sections. Braid each section from close to the root to the ends using the 3-strand braid method and secure with a hair tie.
Editor’s tip: The more braids you do, the more crimped and defined your waves will look.
Step 3: Blowdry.
Take your hairdryer and dry each braid from root to tip.
Step 4: Undo the braids.
Once your hair is completely dry, carefully undo each of the braids.
Step 5: Apply hairspray.
To finish, spray your hair with the VO5 Invisible Firm Hold Hairspray to set your waves in place and prevent any frizz. And there you have it! Your Love Island look is complete.
