Learn how you can balance out a triangle face shape with these ultra flattering celebrity styles

If you have a triangle face shape, all of these styles will look amazing on you!

We’re forever hammering home the importance of choosing a hairstyle to flatter your face shape, but as some face shapes like round, oval and square are so common, others like the triangle face shape can often be overlooked.

Similar to the more commonly seen heart-shape face, to have a triangle face means that your forehead is the widest part of your face, paired with a pointed or angular chin. If you trace over it with your finger, you’ll see that it makes an upside-down triangle, hence the term triangle face!

So, to show you just how you should be styling your mane to complement your unique face shape, we’ve rounded up all the finest A-list celebs who are also part of the triangle squad. Featuring the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Chloë Grace Moretz, you too can get a killer style.

1. Mom hair

Inverted triangle face shapes are characterised by a wider forehead and pointed chin, so the best way to balance out your forehead is to play down the symmetry with a side-parted style.

Reese Witherspoon’s ’90s-inspired mom hair features a deep set side part and varying length layers. This cleverly adds body and width to the style, downplaying her more prominent angles.

2. Low ponytail

Ponytails are always a good option to have up your sleeve, but one tip we have for triangle-faced ladies is to position your pony lower down. That way, if you add curls or volume to your pony, it’ll add oomph through your ends, softening up your jawline.

3. Coiffured updo

Updos are a classic, elegant style for special occasions like family weddings or christenings. If you usually avoid them as you don’t think wearing your hair off of your face suits you, try following Victoria’s lead and backcombing your roots before styling for added lift at the crown.

That way, you won’t ever have to worry about the top of your hair looking flat or like you’re bald from the front!

Editor’s tip: Don’t be mistaken by the name, the TIGI Oh Bee Hive! Matte Dry Shampoo does a lot more than just refresh greasy hair. Blast into your roots before backcombing, and it’ll give you masses of extra lift and height for ’60s-worthy beehive hair.

5. Braided updo

Rosamund Pike’s intricate braided updo is no doubt the work of a pro stylist but it is possible to recreate it at home yourself. It’s essentially just 2 French braids tied together into a neat bun at the top of the head, so while it looks tricky, it’s no more complicated than any other braided ‘do.

Editor’s tip: We always recommend that you do braided hairstyles on unwashed, 2-day (or more!) old hair, as you really do need the extra grittiness to help give you that hold.

If you can’t avoid hair washing day, though, adding some of the TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray through your mane will help to add the texture you need to slay this style.

6. Braided undercut

Braided undercuts are an edgy hairstyle, that’s for sure. But what makes them so different? Well, by adding detail to one side you’ll have a more unconventional style, which not only makes you stand out but also offsets a wide forehead! Pretty smart styling, rght?
