With so many half updos on the market, it can be tricky to pick one that’ll flatter your curly hair – with all kinds of braids, twists, and buns, it’s enough to make your head spin! But fret no more, because the All Things Hair team have whipped up an adorable updo for you to try: and it comes in the form of a half-up, half-down mini bouffant with braids!

Half updos: A step-by-step tutorial to the mini bouffant with braids
Start with clean hair.
As with any updo hairstyle, you want to out start with fresh, clean hair – so make sure that your strands aren’t greasy!
Smooth your strands.
Next, apply a few pumps of the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment to your curls, as this will help nourish them and banish any unwanted frizz!
Section and apply dry shampoo.
Then, using a comb, section off your crown area, as this is where you’ll be creating your mini bouffant! Once you’ve sectioning your hair, give your strands a spritz of the TIGI Bed Head Oh Bee Hive! Dry Shampoo, to help add texture and grip.
Backcomb and create your bouffant.
To add more volume to your mini half-up bouffant, you’ll need to gently backcomb your crown. To do this, start at the mid-way point of your strands, and gently brush your comb towards your scalp. Repeat this motion until you’ve achieved lots of extra body.
After backcombing, gather the hair at your crown into a bouffant shape, and pin it in place at the back of your head using bobby pins.
Accessorise with your bow.
Now, you don’t want to have your bobby pins on display, so cover them up by placing a pretty hair bow on top!
Create your braids.
Next, take an inch wide section of hair from the left side of your head and plait it. Once you reach the ends of your strands, secure your plait with a clear hair elastic. Repeat this process on the right side of your head.
Set your style.
