Hairstyles for curly hair: Tutorial for a slicked centre parting

1

Start with your natural texture.

While this hairstyle works best on naturally curly hair that’s full of volume, you can still pull it off if you’re working with naturally straight or wavy strands. Whatever your hair texture, start off with dry, clean hair.

2

Part your hair.

Then, using a comb or a brush, create a neat centre parting down the middle of your head.

3

Prep your hair.

To get your hair sleek, you’re going to be using some heated styling tools, so help protect your strands by spritzing them with the TRESemmé Runway Collection Get Sleek Creation Protect & Polish Duo Mist.

Straighten your hair.

Next, using a slimline pair of straighteners, smooth down the top section of hair on either side of your parting, straightening from the roots until you reach just above your ear.

5

Apply gel.

Then apply some of the VO5 Classic Styling Mega Hold Gel Spray to the section of hair that you straightened in step 4. Grab your comb again and use it to distribute the gel throughout the strands, before running your hands over the area to smooth it.

6

Apply mousse.

Now that the top section of your hair is flat and smooth, you’ll want to make the bottom section ultra voluminous!

To do this, applying a tennis ball-sized amount of the TONI&GUY Volume Plumping Mousse to the unstraightened sections of your hair, by scrunching it in with your hands. This clever-working mousse will help to make your strands appear fuller and thicker!

Create a loop.

Now it’s time to create your zig-zag curls! Take a 2-inch wide section of hair, and wrap it around your fingers until you reach the straightened section. Then secure it with a bobby pin to keep it’s shape.

Straighten your loop.

Repeat step 7 on the rest of your hair, before using your straighteners to apply heat to each of your loops. Once your hair has cooled, take out your pins to reveal gorgeous zig-zag curls.
