Side braid with a bun tutorial
Refresh your hair with dry shampoo.
Before creating your side braided bun, refresh your hair with a dry shampoo, like the TRESemmé Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo.
This will help give your tresses a little grip, making it easier to weave your plait (not mention, it’ll also help rid you of greasy roots).
Brush your hair.
Before styling, use a paddle brush to detangle your tresses and remove any leftover dry shampoo from your hair.
Create your braid.
Now, this look works best as a side French braid bun, so create a side parting and begin to weave your French plait on the side that has more hair. Do this by taking an inch-wide piece of hair at the top of your parting and divide it into 3 equal sections.
Now cross the strands once like a typical braid (left over middle, right over the middle), but before crossing the sections over again, pick up more hair from each side as you weave.
Tip: If you prefer a fishtail side braid, divide your hair into 2 equal sections. Then take a thin piece of hair from the outer edge of the right section, pulling it over to the left section. Make sure to cross the hair in front, not behind.
Secure your braid.
Continue your chosen braiding technique all the way to the end and secure in place with a hairband.
Create your bun.
Now that you have your completed plait it’s time to create your braided side bun. Simply roll the end of your braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins.
Finish with hairspray.
Now you’ve created your side bun with a braid, finish off the look with a mist of the VO5 Ultimate Hold Hairspray. This will help keep your ‘do in place even after you’re workout!
Final look.
And there you have it: a beautiful side braid with a bun to help you get through that workout in style!
