Step 1

Brush your hair.

Start your braided ponytail by brushing through your hair to ensure it’s tangle-free and ready for braiding.

Step 2

Apply dry shampoo.

Next, prep your mane by spraying the VO5 Refresh Me Quick Dry Shampoo into your roots, to soak up any excess oil and add texture.

Step 3

Tie your hair into a ponytail.

Next, brush your hair back into a high ponytail at the top of your head and secure with a hair tie.

Then take a small section of hair from the bottom of your ponytail and wrap it around the base of your ponytail, to conceal the hair tie. Set in place using bobby pins.

Step 4

Braid your ponytail.

Create a classic 3-strand braid by dividing your hair evenly into 3 sections.

Now cross the left section over the middle section, then cross the right section over the middle section. Continue to weave all the way to the end of your hair and secure with a clear hair elastic.

Step 5

Pancake your braid.

To amplify the voluminous effect of your braid, gently pancake your woven strands. Do this by using your fingers to gently pull apart the braid from either side.

Step 6

Use hairspray.

When your braid is complete, lightly mist it with the VO5 Ultimate Hold Hairspray to maintain your pretty plait all day long. Yep, it really is as easy as that!
