How to Create the Perfect Curly Blow Dry: Easy Step-by-Step

1

Start with wet hair.

Create the perfect curls by starting with just-washed locks. Gently towel dry your hair until only about 30% of the moisture is left, this will help your curls dry quicker.

De-frizz your strands.

Next, apply a small amount of the VO5 Frizz Free Cream into the palm of your hand. This styling product offers heat protection and also helps tame any frizz.

Smooth the product through your hair, avoiding the roots, and comb through with your fingers.

Use a diffuser.

One of the most crucial tools in this tutorial is the diffuser. A long-time beauty MVP for curly-haired girls, this handy attachment will ensure you create full, bouncy locks without any frizz.

Start by taking a section of hair and placing the ends on top of the diffuser. Next, gently rotate the hair dryer, moving it towards your roots. Once you reach your scalp, hold for a few seconds and slowly rotate the hair down again and back into place.

Go over each section.

Repeat this process working from the front of your head towards the back. Use your fingers to check that your hair is 100% dry and you’re happy with your curls.

Go over any sections with the diffuser again, if needed.

Finish with a frizz-taming oil.

Now your curls are looking perfect, it’s time to add a final styling touch. Made with a salon-grade blend of Argan and Almond oils, the TRESemmé Oleo Radiance Oil Elixir will help leave your hair shiny and frizz free.

Apply one or two pumps (depending on your hair length) to the palm of your hand and gently finger comb your hair. Concentrate on the mid-lengths and ends, or any areas that need smoothing down.

And… we’re done! You’ve just perfected a beautiful, curly blow dry.

1. Hair Oil

If you ask us, the perfect curly blow dry should leave your hair looking and feeling ultra-smooth, and lusciously silky! And yet, this luxe finish can’t be achieved with a hair dryer alone – which is why you’ll also need to throw a hero hair product into the mix! Enter: the VO5 Invisibly Light Hair Oil, which can be applied to damp hair before blow-drying, to help banish any frizz.

2. Body Builder

When we think of the TIGI SUPERSTAR BLOW blow-dry, we conjure up images of bouncy, voluminous curls, that are just perfect for party season! So, to bring your curls to life – and for some added oomph – the TIGI Catwalk Root Boost spray will be applied to your roots, before your mane is dried with a hair dryer. Trust us, you’ll be left with sky-high volume, as well as enviable texture. Ooh la la!

3. Volumising Spray

With our magical volume spray, you can create waves, a beachy texture and volume – so it’s a must-have. It’s super light, so you have lots of control and can add movement to the hair, too. – Maria Kovacs.

If you haven’t yet tried the TIGI Superstar Queen For A Day Thickening Spray, then you’re seriously missing out! It’s the holy grail of hairsprays when it comes to creating a voluminous blow out, which is why it’s one of the key products used in Blow Ltd’s new, curly blow dry.

4. Workable Hairspray

You can use it while blow-drying and also to set the hair to finish. It doesn’t leave any residue, so I call it my invisible hairspray! It’s like the equivalent of no-makeup makeup, but for your hair! – Maria Kovacs

Blow Ltd like to use the TIGI Catwalk Work It Hairspray both before and after blow-drying. Not only does this help to build up the volume and give your blow-out a high-impact finish, but it’ll also give your hair some extra holding power, all without feeling crisp and sticky!

5. Dry Shampoo

If you’re a perpetually time-poor girl, then you’ll be pleased to know, that starting a curly blow dry with wet hair isn’t essential: because Blow Ltd can actually create a blow out effect on already dry hair (yes, really!). To do this, they’ll use the trusty TIGI Bed Head Oh Bee Hive! Dry Shampoo, which has super fine powder, to help absorb the excess oils that weigh down your hair, and in turn release massive body and sky-high volume!
