Jeanette, Senior Editor: My secret weapon for shinier-looking, curly hair is to rinse my tresses with cold water after I’ve washed it. After rinsing out my shampoo and conditioner, I run some cold water over my ‘fro. But why do all of this? Well, while washing your hair the warm water helps to open the hair cuticle and then the cold water helps to close it, making the hair appear smoother and therefore shinier!

AriannaBeauty & News Editor: I’ve found that, as well as using the right hair products, eating the right types of food can also play a big part in the condition of your hair. To help boost the shine of mine, I try to include some omega-3-rich foods (like oily fish) into my weekly diet. You know what they say: you are what you eat!

Bethany, Junior Beauty Editor: Any fellow (not-so-natural) blonde will know how hard it is to get our flaxen hair to look shiny. Obviously, dry hair looks the dullest, so I’ve found that using a hydrating hair oil like the TRESemmé Oleo Radiance Oil Elixir through the mid-lengths and ends after washing my hair really helps. The formula contains argan and almond oils which leave the hair feeling nourished, whilst adding a gorgeous glossy sheen!

Amra, Editorial Assistant: My hair has undergone some major chemical treatments in a bid to straighten my natural curls. To keep my hair looking shiny, I swear by using a hair mask once a week. My current favourite is the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Mask, which helps to smooth my rough, dry ends. I apply it after I’ve shampooed my hair, and let it works its magic for 3-5 minutes, before rinsing it out. I’m always left with super shiny locks!
