What you’ll need
It’s no secret that the All Things Hair team have become somewhat obsessed with hair masks. So as you’ll have guessed, we’ve tried our fair share and have racked up some solid favourites.
And now that summer’s here, it’s important to take extra care to help protect your mane from damage caused by the sun, sea and humidity. The best way to that, of course, is by adding a hair mask to your weekly hair care routine to help keep your tresses nourished and moisturised, even when the natural elements are working against you. Keep reading below to find out which hair masks have made our editors’ lists.
The best summer hair masks: Editors’ picks
TRESemmé Oleo Radiance Creamy Moisture Mask (£6.99*)
Emily, Global Chief Editor: Since my hair is coloured, all things considered, it’s in fairly good condition. But even so, my ends can get particularly porous and dry. To help, I use the TRESemmé Oleo Radiance Creamy Moisture Mask once a week, which penetrates deeply to nourish from within. The result? Healthier-looking hair (particularly those parched ends!) and a natural shine. And bonus: its light fragrance smells divine, which is just what you want at this time of year!
TIGI Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Intense Nourishing Mask (£16.95*)
Ink, Chief Editor UK: A relatively new discovery, the TIGI Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Intense Nourishing Mask not only smells luxuriously sweet, but its rich formula really helps to smooth my dry, heat-damaged hair (I swear by my hair dryer and straighteners!), leaving it looking shiny and feeling super soft. In truth, I probably don’t use it enough, but every time I do, I wonder why I don’t indulge in hair masks more often! Plus, it’s the perfect remedy for dry, sun-drenched locks.
Dove Advanced Hair Series Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask (£6.99*)
Jeanette, Beauty Editor: Don’t get me wrong, I love my curly hair but it does get dry and brittle pretty easily. To help combat this, I swear by hair masks. I use the Dove Advanced Hair Series Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask when my tresses need a little extra TLC, and I love that it’s designed with curly-haired girls in mind: it really helps to quench my parched ends and retain the shape of my ringlets! Plus, while it packs a powerful punch in the moisture department, it’s super lightweight and only takes a few minutes to work, making it great for the time-poor (like me)!
Toni&Guy Nourish Reconstruction Mask (£6.49*)
Arianna, Junior Beauty Editor: Coming from someone who suffers from frizzy, thick and damaged hair (which unfortunately only becomes more brittle during the summer!), I can safely attest that the Toni&Guy Nourish Reconstruction Mask helps to inject some much needed moisture into my parched strands. It’s super nourishing, so you only need a small amount to reap its full benefits!
Alberto Balsam Damage Repair Intensive Mask (£2.99*)
Amra, Editorial Assistant: My hair is naturally dry and has become prone to damage after years of relaxing, texturising and everything in-between. My go-to hair mask is the Alberto Balsam Damage Repair Intensive Mask as it targets dryness and also helps to repair my parched ends! And don’t even get me started on the smell: it’s reminiscent of a tropical cocktail: total bliss!
