But when you’re not using it for cooking, how can you use it to treat your dry hair? Well, as we mentioned: it’s a fantastic moisturiser, so you can use coconut oil to help condition those parched strands. Apply it before shampooing as a conditioning pre-poo treatment and/or afterwards as a DIY conditioning leave-in. You can even use it daily as a moisturiser, if your tresses are in need of of constant TLC! The possibilities are literally endless.
Home remedies for dry hair #2: Avocado
We know you’d probably rather eat this home remedy (preferably on toast) than put it in your hair, but if you have a spare avocado in the fridge or one that’s overripe, it’s worth whipping it up into a DIY hair mask. This delicious fruit is very nutritious and full of good fats, plus, they’re loaded with potassium and vitamin C and K.
Start by peeling your ripe avocado and removing the pit. Mash your avocado in a bowl using a fork, then add a tablespoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of honey. Mix until the ingredients are completely blended. Apply to clean, damp hair and leave on for 10 minutes. Thoroughly rinse the mixture out of your mane – and you’re done!
Home remedies for dry hair #3: Eggs
Whether you like yours fried, scrambled or poached, don’t forget to save a couple of eggs to create one of the easiest home remedies for dry hair! Eggs are great because they’re packed with protein and fatty acids, plus, they also boast antioxidant properties.
As we said, this DIY hair treatment is really simple to make. All you need are 2 eggs and a little bit of olive oil. Start by cracking your eggs and separating the whites from the yolks. Pour the 2 egg yolks and 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a bowl and whisk them together. Apply the mixture to clean, towel-dried hair and leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing out with cool water.
