How-to: Braided Hairstyles that Take You from Day to Night

Part of adulting is knowing how to maximize your time (because you now have a hundred things on your hands and very little time to spare—welcome to real life!) Now if you can look really good while juggling all of your responsibilities, then that’s super, because you know what they say: there’s a date at the end of the tunnel (or was it something else?).
Point is, you hustle during the day, you party at night. And whether it’s a romantic party for two, or a much overdue barkada date, the transition from office-sweetheart-you to the having-a-drink-or-two-because-I-deserve-it-you has to be quick. In times like this, you need an office-appropriate look that you can easily tweak for those after-six shenanigans. This way, you don’t need a lot of extra time in between to get ready.

Look 1: French Braid with Ribbon
Prep your hair
First, the hair. Make sure you start clean by washing it with Tresemmé Detox & Nourish Shampoo and Tresemmé Detox & Nourish Conditioner.
Prep your tools
Now the ribbon: cut a small hole near the end of your ribbon, then insert a bobby pin through it.
Pin the ribbon
Get a section of hair from the top of your head and secure with elastic (this is your upper section). Then pin the ribbon right beside it.
Get ready to braid
Divide the upper section into three parts, then combine the rightmost part with the ribbon.
Start braiding
French braid your hair, making sure that the ribbon is visible and on top of each plait. When you get to the ends, wrap the end of the ribbon around the elastic before tying it into a bow.
Look 2: Fishtail Bun with Ribbon Headband
Fishtail braid
Braid both sections fishtail style. To do a fishtail braid, divide the section of hair into two parts. Take a smaller section of hair from the outer edge of the right side, and cross it over to the other side. Re-grip your hair to tighten, still holding two sections. Take another smaller section from the outer edge of the left side, and cross it over to the opposite side. Repeat until you reach the end of hair and tie with an elastic.
Create a bun
Take one fishtail to the back of your head, twisting it up to form a bun. Secure in place with a bobby pin.
Repeat on the other side
Take the other braid and twist it over and around the first braid, and secure with a bobby pin.
Tie the ribbon
Take your black ribbon and wrap it over your head like a headband, and tie into a bow under one side of your braided bun.
