We don’t really know who discovered sock curls, but we’re guessing she either a.) lived at a time when curling irons and flat irons have never been heard of, b.) lived at a time when curling irons and flat irons have been heard of but were nowhere in sight at the moment that she really needed to curl her hair or c.) really wanted to sport beautiful curls but was dead set at avoiding hair damage caused by heat styling. Whatever situation that led to the invention of this curling method, we are totally grateful!
Creating sock curls is one of the best ways to get curled when you’re travelling and don’t want to have to lug around styling tools with you, or when you’re just too lazy to use a curling iron. It’s less the fuss, less the damage, but the end result is equally gorgeous as curls created with heat.
There are many different techniques to achieve the perfect curls, but we gotta say, we’re totally loving those that don’t require heat best! Here’s one of them:
Before you start, apply TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray to your hair to make it easier to curl your tresses. Not only does this give your hair texture, it also holds your curls so that they last longer.
Here’s the fun part! Take an old but clean sock and roll a section of your hair around it starting at the ends, in the direction away from your face. Once you’ve reached the roots tie the sock in a basic knot to secure it in place. Get another sock and do the same thing with another section, this time curling it in the opposite direction. Repeat the process until all of your hair is up and knotted with socks.
Let it set
Let your hair set by leaving it for at least two hours. Remember, the longer you leave the socks there, the more defined your curls will be.
Seal your curls
Lock your curls with a good spritz of TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray.
Go give the sock curls a try and see how it can give you bouncy curls.
