Tired of your regular three strand braided hair? Kick it up a notch with another strand and it will make a significant difference. Yes, we are doing the Four Strand Hair Braid. It may sound a little complicated when you hear the name of this hairstyle. Don’t worry, here’s an easy to follow guide to help you create the look for yourself.
How to do the Four Strand Hair Braid
Hair Prep
A few hours before you need your hair all styled up, get your hair relaxed and clean so it will be easy to handle. Wash it with Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Shampoo. This shampoo will nourish your hair and make it look thicker. Then treat your hair with Dove Oxygen and Nourishment Conditioner to keep moisture and protected from damage.
Then, before you start, be sure your hair is dry. Not damp, completely dry but don’t blow it dry with warm air.
Apply serum
Next, get a hold of your TONI & GUY High Shine Serum Drops and apply it to your hair. Work 2-3 drops between palms then smooth through mid-lengths and ends of dry hair. Make sure you have covered all sides. Right to left and left to right. The Serum drops help reduce frizz while also adding shine and gloss to your hair. It is important to get the serum all over your hair.
Create a ponytail
Start with your basic ponytail, not too low just right at the point where all your hair come together. You can go higher if you have longer than just after the shoulder hair length. Secure with a hairband.
Hide that hairband
Take a small section of hair from the ponytail, wrap it around the base to hide the hairband. Then, secure with a hair pin.
Sectioning hair
Divide your hair evenly into four (4) sections. Try to get them as even as you can. You can determine that by wrapping your forefinger around each section and just get a feel of the thickness of each.
Braiding
Start with: Take the outer left section then cross it over the second section, and under the third section.
Pause! Take a deep breath then continue.
Take the fourth section and cross it underneath the third section, and then over the second section.
Got that? Read again and repeat …
Continue weaving all through your hair until you’re close to the ends and secure with elastic.
