Ever wonder how you look like with short hair? You may have stood in front of the mirror many times, wondering if chopping your long hair would be worth it. Well, wonder no more! You can actually fake a short ‘do by creating a faux pixie. No more crying at the salon while your trusted stylist cuts your beloved long hair. With a faux pixie, you can experiment. Here’s how.

How to create a faux pixie

Start with soft, bouncy hair

Wash your hair with Dove Oxygen & Nourishment Shampoo to add natural volume and Sunsilk Smooth & Manageable Conditioner to make hair soft and easy to style.

Faux pixie step 1: Wash hair

Protect hair

Spritz TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray onto your hair to guard against heat damage. Concentrate on the sections that will be styled.

Faux pixie step 2: Spray heat protectant

Curl it, girl!

Add texture to your tips by curling them using a flat iron. Curl your hair toward one direction.

Faux pixie step 3: Curl your tips in one direction

Divide into sections

Part hair into to horizontal sections. Twist the top section (the one near your crown and forehead) and form a small bun, then clip it.

Faux pixie step 4: Divide hair into two horizontal sections

Comb hair

Get a fine-toothed tail comb and comb the lower section of your hair background. Then, gather your hair, and twist it upwards to form a bun. Secure with bobby pins.

HAIR HACK: Spray TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray on your fine-toothed comb to create a sleeker ‘do.

Faux pixie step 5: Comb hair

Separate locks

Unclip the top section of your hair and part it into two horizontal sections. Push one section at the back, then twist the front section and clip it.

Faux pixie step 6: Separate the top section of you hair.

Tease it

Using your tail comb, tease the unclipped section of your hair, pushing locks onto your scalp to create dimension. Then, twist hair into a bun and hold in place with bobby pins.

Faux pixie step 7: Tease hair

Make curls again

Unclip the front section of your hair and clamp it with a flat iron. Twist the iron as you pull it to make your hair wavy.

Faux pixie step 8: Curl for the last time

Spray and secure

Spritz TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray to keep hair frizz-free. This will also help make your hairstyle last long. After spraying, gather hair on top of your head near your hairline, for a vertical ring shape, and secure the ends with a bobby pin. Make sure that the tips of your hair are not seen.

Faux pixie step 9: Spray and secure

Get smooth

Spritz TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray again as you smooth your hair with your fingers.

Faux pixie step 10: Spritz hairspray one last time

You look as though you’re about to strut the runway. So chic and fab! The faux pixie is a great hairstyle for when you want to unwind with your friends. You can wear this ‘do for after-work wine and cheese or a more-than-casual dinner. When you want to dress up during weekends, you can style your hair this way, too.
