Here are three easy braids for long hair that you can do by yourself at home.

Easy Braids for Long Hair: Twin Fishtail Braids

Make your two-braid hairstyle a bit different by creating fishtail braids instead of two basic three-strand braids. Here’s how to create twin fishtail braids.

1

Part your hair at the center

Divide your hair into two vertical sections. Using a tail comb, create a center part from your hairline all the way to the back of your head.

Secure one side

Clip the right section of your hair using a claw clip. Doing this will get this side out of the way as you braid the left section.

Prep for braiding

Divide the left section further into two vertical sections. In your mind, label these sections as “A” and “B.”

Create a fishtail braid

Take a small lock of hair from the outer side of “A” and cross it over to the center. Then, take another lock of hair from the outer side of “B.” Cross over to the center as well.

Keep braiding

Continue with the process until you reach the tips of your hair. Then, secure your fishtail braid with an elastic.

Repeat

Unclip the left section of your hair and braid it. Just follow what you did to the left section to create your second fishtail braid.

Shoelace Braid

You can create a braid by tying a series of knots like a shoelace; hence the name shoelace braid. It’s similar to a headband braid and it’s just as chic. Here’s how to do it.

1

Spray on a section

Part your long hair at the center. Then, take a small section from the left side and spray it with TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray. This will give it grip and make it easier to style.

Create the first knot

After spraying, take a section of hair from your left side and divide this section into two smaller parts. Cross these two sections to create a gap. Insert one section into the gap and gently pull both ends until you create a loop.

Create more knots

Add more hair into the sections you are tying as you continue making more knots. Keep doing this until the knots reach ear-level.

By the time your braid reaches ear-level, you would have created five knots. Put a bobby pin at the end of the knots to secure the whole braid.

Repeat the same process on the other side of your hair.

All set!

Having a romantic dinner at home? How about a virtual date? The shoelace braid is perfect for those occasions. It’s girly, dainty, and romantic, and it will go well with your favorite dress. You can also wear this ‘do for small parties.

Pull-Through Ponytail Braid

A ponytail hairstyle becomes extra chic when combined with a braid. If you have long thick hair, this hairstyle is ideal because it keeps your hair from sticking to or brushing against your nape. A ponytail braid hairstyle also makes you look fresh and neat. Here’s how to create it.

1

Tie your hair

Gather your hair on your crown and tie it into a high ponytail. Use a hair tie or hair band and make sure the ponytail sits tightly on your crown.

Divide and conquer

Section your ponytail into two equal portions. Then, make a gap in the left portion using your forefinger.
