You can never really go wrong with a bun hairstyle. It’s a classic ‘do that can be easily updated according to the vibe that you’re going for: a messy version for a hip and modern look, a bow bun for a fun, youthful style, or braided for something that channels femininity and romance. Today we’re feeling romantic so we’ll show you an interesting version of the braided bun hairstyle.
Last time, we challenged Karla Aguas to create a Khaleesi hairstyle, which she totally nailed, by the way. And now, for the second installment of the All Things Hair “Do this ‘do” challenge, we sent Keren of the Beautyklove blog a box of hair products she can use to create the braided pancake bun hairstyle. Sounds interesting, huh? Find out what this breakfast-sounding ‘do looks like, and how Keren’s going to pull it off in the video above!
How to Create the Braided Pancake Bun
Prep hair
For hair that’s manageable and easy to style, wash it with Sunsilk Smooth & Manageable Shampoo and condition with Cream Silk Standout Straight Conditioner. This combination will make sure your style is frizz-free. When your hair’s clean, fresh, and fragrant, go ahead and dry it as you normally would.

Add shine & remove tangles
When your hair is completely dry, spray it with TONI&GUY Finishing Shine Spray, then brush to remove tangles.

Do a lace braid
Part your hair in the middle, then take a section from the front and divide it into three. To create a lace braid, cross the right section over the middle, then middle over right, then start to add in strands to the braid from the loose section. Continue doing, this until you reach the end. Secure with an elastic.

Repeat
Do the same thing on the other side. You should have two braids on the sides and a loose section remaining at the back.

More braiding
Take the remaining section of hair from the back and create a regular three-strand braid. Secure the end with an elastic.

Create a bun
Take that last braid you just created and make a bun out of it, wrapping it around itself and securing with bobby pins. Take one of your lace braids and wrap it around the first bun. When that’s done, take the last braided section and do the exact same thing. Use as many bobby pins as necessary. Add a few loose strands on the sides for a romantic touch.

Set your style
Spray your hair with TRESemmé Extra Hold Hairspray to keep your braided bun in place.

Keren did nail it! It’s super easy, we have no doubt you would, too! Go ahead and give it a try!
