On a daily basis, ano yung step-by-step hair care routine na ginagawa mo sa hair mo?

“After runway, pagdating ko sa bahay, warm water first. Then I’ll put purple shampoo—TRESemmé Pro-Color Series Blonde Brilliance and then ibababad ko siya for five minutes. Sunod ko na ‘yung conditioner, babad ko siya for another 30 minutes para hindi siya mag-dry at saka mag-frizz. Then warm water again, wash it na. After noon, blower na.”

TRESemmé Pro-Color Series Blonde Brilliance Shampoo

Editor’s tip: Blonde hair requires a different set of hair care products. You need to use ones that have purple formula like the new TRESemmé Pro-Color Series Blonde Brilliance Shampoo and TRESemmé Pro-Color Series Blonde Brilliance Conditioner. This purple formula neutralizes brass tones and yellow hues for a longer-lasting beautiful blonde. The TRESemmé Pro-Color Series Blonde Brilliance duo even has jojoba oil to keep your blonde hair soft, shiny, and well-moisturized.

I just noticed na palaging warm water. Why do you prefer warm water?

“Kapag cold water kasi parang matigas siya after. Kapag warm water, mas softer siya.”

In your dresser or bag, anong hair product yung hinding-hindi mawawala?

“‘Yung TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray. Bago runway, nag-iispray muna ako kasi yung iba lagay muna agad ng gel or hairspray. So mas protected ako.”

Especially for a model like you, right? Your hair always goes through a lot of styling.

“Yes, blower, curling iron, etc!”

Editor’s tip: Like Yumi Fernandez, you can protect your hair from the damaging effects of heat styling by spritzing TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray. This product also helps tame frizz to give you that runway-ready look!

For Yumi Fernandez, her short waves with baby bangs will be her signature look.

What’s your favorite hairstyle?

Ganito lang. Wavy tapos short bangs. Kasi may ka-look alike na ‘ko. So sabi ko, ‘Di pwede. Kailangan maiba naman ako! Kailangan mag-stand out ako doon sa isang girl!’ Kaya pina-shorten ko ‘yung bangs ko [to baby bangs].”

So, now you’re owning that look?

“Yeah!”

Why beach waves?

“Feeling ko kasi ‘yun yung fit sa [shape ng] mukha ko. At saka lalo ako magmumukhang Asian.”

Do you love coloring your hair?

“Yeah! At first, nag-try lang ako ng blonde. Trial lang siya, then after noon, sunod-sunod na ‘yung jobs! ‘Di ko talaga expected!”

How many hair colors have you tried?

“I think six or seven colors na? Light pink, violet, green, orange—iba-iba, parang rainbow na!

Which one’s your favorite?

“This one!”

Yumi Fernandez strongly believers that playing with style is a game everyone should try.

On bad hair days, what do you do?

“Normal days ko talagang magulo lang! Tapos naka-bun lang or naka-hat.

May nireregret ka bang hairstyle?

“Siguro yung sobrang haba na hair, as in hanggang baywang. Kasi sobrang hirap niyang i-maintain and ang bigat-bigat. Tapos every time, after you shower, papatuyuin mo pa, eh ang tagal-tagal! Ang gastos pa sa shampoo!”

What’s your hair advice to girls reading this?

“First na maaadvice ko sa kanila, ‘wag silang matakot na ma-explore kung ano yung babagay sa look nila. Kasi yung iba napansin ko, natatakot sila—ay, ayokong magpa-short hair!”—kasi takot sila eh. Second is, kapag nagpa-haircut na sila ng ganoon, ‘wag sila magreregret. Dapat mahalin nila kung anong pinagawa nila at syempre yung [ginawa] din noong stylist para sa kanila. At syempre, alagaan nila yung hair nila.”

Thinking of chopping your locks and slaying short wavy hair? Here are some ideas.

1. Wavy bob

Whether you have natural waves or creating some using a curling iron, a wavy bob won’t make your hair look flat and lifeless. It’s also easy to glam up for different occasions.

Editor’s tip: Make sure your short hair stays soft and nourished. Apply Cream Silk Standout Straight Leave-On Cream on your wavy hair to keep it moisturized without weighing it down.

2. Scrunched short hair
