Heatless hairstyles: 3 Ways to get no-heat curls

Wouldn’t you be glad to know that life (with gorgeous curls, no less) is possible, even without heated styling tools? We won’t suggest you throw away your curling iron, flat iron, and blow dryer, but knowing how to create heatless hairstyles could save your hair—and your style—one day. They’re quick and easy, and give your tresses a break from high-temperature styling which causes serious damage and dryness to your hair.
Now, it may sound impossible to achieve beautiful curls without heat, but see, heat is not always the answer. Creativity is. Let us teach you three awesome ways to get the curls that you want using anything but heat.
Heatless hairstyles: Three curly ‘dos to try
Pin curls
Section your hair using a clip so that the rest is out of the way while you work on one section. Take a 2-inch section from the hair you left unclipped and then wrap it around your index and middle fingers. Secure your curl with a pin. Keep doing this to the rest of your hair until you have a full head of pin curls. Leave them there for a few hours (or even better, overnight) to set. When you feel they’re ready, remove the pins to release your curls. Gently loosen your hair with your fingers—don’t use a brush so you don’t lose the curls. To make your curls last, spray your hair with Tresemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray. It will help hold your curls without leaving your tresses stiff or sticky.
Rag Curls
What you need: an old (but clean!) t-shirt, or any fabric you’re ready to cut up, scissors for cutting, and hairspray. What to do: Cut your fabric into strips (the thinner the strips, the smaller the curls). Take a small section of hair, and then starting at the ends, roll each section around the strip, going up until you reach the top of your scalp. Secure that section by tying the ends of your strip together as tight as you can, with your hair set in place. Do this to the rest of your hair and leave to set overnight. Untie everything in the morning then brush your hair gently to achieve beautiful loose waves. Overnight braids
This one is probably the easiest, and we love how you can achieve different types of curls just by adjusting the size of your braid. If you’re opting for sweet, subtle waves, one big braid will do the job, while smaller, multiple plaits will give you tighter curls. You can experiment with different braids to get different results.
Remember to wash your hair before you got to bed, then apply Cream Silk Standout Straight Leave-on Cream evenly to your strands. When your hair’s about 80% dry, spray it with TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising spray, braid it, then secure the end with an elastic. Sleep on it, and when you wake up in the morning, remove the elastic then fluff your hair with your fingers for added volume.
