The three different ways to blow dry hair
Section your hair into four parts, clipping them away, except for the section you’ll be working on first. Make sure the concentration nozzle is attached to the blow dryer. Use one hand to firmly hold the ends of the first section (you can alternatively use a round brush), and the other to blow dry it from roots to the ends, with the nozzle pointing downwards. Repeat with all the other sections.
Make sure your hair is 80% dry before you start styling and adding curls. Section your hair into three horizontal layers. Work on the first section: blow dry hair using a round brush to pull your roots upwards. Continue until the section is almost completely dry, then roll your hair all the way up the brush. Then hit the brush with a blast of hot air for a few seconds. When the section is totally dry, blast it again with the blow dryer set to cool. When the section is mostly cool, gently unravel it from the brush. Roll your hair back up around your fingers and pin into place like a pin curl. This makes sure the curls will set and hold in place. Keep repeating these steps until your hair is all dry and pinned up. Let it set for a couple of minutes, then release the pins and shake out your curls.
Editor’s tip: Set your curls with a strong hold hair spray like TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray to keep them nice and bouncy.
This is one of the few times you need to remove the nozzle from your hair dryer. “Blast drying” your hair will cause your cuticles to expand which is exactly what you need to add volume and texture to your tresses. When hair is 80% dry, apply hair mousse at the roots. This will add extra volume, keeping your hair from falling limp and flat. Then dry the mousse into your mane by blowing drying it again, which will activate its polymer content, making the mousse swell in size and give your strands a huge volume boost.
We recommend: TONI&GUY Volume Plumping Mousse, which is crafted with a root targeting nozzle to get body, bounce and movement where it matters most.
The techniques you use to blow dry hair will dictate the result, giving you a lot of hairstyle options. Looks like you have a new BFF!
