Ever heard of the term “wash and go”? If not, let us introduce you to this easy styling technique for natural curly hair. Wash and go is a great everyday hairstyle that focuses on making your natural curls pop. It’s popular for women with really curly to kinky hair, but it also works for type 2 hair as well (this is hair with light to very wavy hair patterns). 1. Always start with clean, well-moisturized hair

The style is called wash and go, so washing is definitely an integral part of this hairstyle. Clean hair and scalp is a good foundation for the perfect wash and go hair. You’d want to use lightweight products, though, so as not to weigh your down and make it look limp. You need all the bounce your curls can get!

Editor’s tip: Use Dove Oxygen & Nourishment Shampoo, then condition with Dove Oxygen & Nourishment Conditioner. They’re formulated with Oxyfusion Technology which help nourish hair and give it up to 95% more volume.

2. Apply leave-in conditioner on soaking wet hair

Don’t wait until your hair dries up. Apply leave-in conditioner or cream to your tresses while they’re still wet. This will help define your curls and eliminate frizz.

We recommend: Cream Silk Standout Straight Leave-on Cream. It’s ultra-light and non-sticky formula will help make your hair soft, smooth, and shiny without weighing it down.

3. Shake your hair

A good technique is to flip your hair over and then gently shake the strands to separate your curls and add volume. You can also use a blowdryer with a diffuser attached to enhance volume.

4. Use hair mousse

When your hair has dried a little bit (not too much or you won’t get the same effect — half dry is good), apply hair mousse to define your curls. Focus on the top layers, twirling the curls around your fingers to give them shape.

We recommend: TONI&GUY Volume Plumping Mousse. This product is crafted with a root targeting nozzle to get body, bounce, and movement where it matters most.

5. Set it with a good hairspray

To make your pretty curls last all day, use a good hair spray. But make sure you choose a product that doesn’t make your hair stiff and sticky. We recommend TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray. It offers a water-free, humidity-resistant flexible hold that leaves no stiffness or stickiness.

Yea, there’s quite a number of things that go on between the washing and the actual going so the name could be a bit inaccurate. But hey, your natural curly hair is probably already perfect by the time that you can finally go; so whatever, right?
