Here’s what you need to know about icy blonde hair

Ready to make the biggest beauty transformation of your life?
This upgrade won’t come easy, but this year might just be the year you finally go blonde. But not just any shade of blonde, we’re talking icy blonde.
According to LA-based hairstylist Tanya Ramirez (and as reported by Hello Giggles), platinum, white, or icy blonde tresses is one of the go-to hair colors this year for those looking to fully transform their look. After all, the look is already popular among Hollywood celebrities—remember Taylor Swift at the Met Gala?

If you’re prepared to take the icy plunge, Ramirez has the following advice: “Whether you’re craving a dramatic change or looking to establish a signature look, it’s important to understand your hair type and texture.”
So while it’s tempting to jump on the icy blonde trend and expect it to be easy; in reality pulling it off is all about how the hair color will sit on your hair. If your hair is too dry and damaged, then you may want to hold-off on jumping on the trend until you’ve nursed your hair back to health.

Another advice from Ramirez: “When you’re trying to decide how to pull off your own color makeover, think of your favorite colors, the staples in your wardrobe; and, of course, your own natural skin tone to determine a complimentary hue.”
Dyeing your locks a bright white shade (or any other shade) entails hours of bleaching. So if you’re ready to jump on the trend, care for your hair pre and post hair dye with nourishing shampoos and conditioners. The goal is to have your hair color of choice but with your hair still remaining frizz-free and smooth to the touch.
